UASB Reactor Tank for Beverage Wastewater Treatment Project
description
The characteristics of beverage wastewater are as follows:
It has a high concentration of organic matter. The raw materials contain sugars, proteins, organic acids, pectin, etc., making it easily biodegradable wastewater.
It has a high amount of suspended solids. It contains fruit pulp, pomace, residues, colloids, and fine fibers, resulting in large fluctuations in suspended solids (SS), which can easily clog pipes and packing materials.
It is prone to acidification and putrefaction. The high sugar content leads to rapid fermentation and acid production after settling, causing a drop in pH, producing odors, and promoting sludge bulking.
UASB (up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor) tanks made of GFS are the mainstream high-efficiency equipment for treating high-concentration organic wastewater from the beverage industry.

Glass fused to steel is a permanent, molecular bond created by fusing a specially formulated silica-based glass enamel to a base sheet of steel at very high temperatures (around 820°C / 1500°F) ,combines the advantages of both materials -- the strength and flexibility of steel and excellent anti-corrosion properties of glass.

core advantages
The core advantages of glass-lined bolted tanks used as UASB reactors include excellent corrosion resistance, superior sealing performance, rapid construction, long service life, expandability and high cost-effectiveness. They are an ideal solution for the anaerobic treatment of high-concentration organic wastewater such as beverage wastewater.
• High corrosion resistance, ideal for harsh corrosive conditions of UASB anaerobic systems
Broad acid and alkali resistance. Sintered at 820–930℃, the enamel coating tolerates pH 1–14 and resists long-term corrosion from VFA, organic acids and H₂S in UASB biogas.
Extended service life: Carbon steel tanks last 5–8 years, while glass-fused steel tanks have a 20–30 year design life with low long-term maintenance expenses.
Dense & smooth surface: Anti-scaling and sludge non-adhesive, it prevents clogging and sludge bulking, and suits stable operation of UASB upflow and granular sludge bed.
• Superior tightness: Guarantees biogas collection and safety.
High air tightness: Adopting standard glass-fused steel plates, Grade 8.8/10.9 high-strength bolts and dedicated sealant. Biogas leakage < 1%, with collection rate increased by around 15% for better energy recovery.
High pressure bearing capacity: Withstands internal pressure up to 0.5 MPa. Suits UASB upflow velocity and biogas pressure variation, free from deformation and leakage.
• Modular bolted assembly: Fast construction and high flexibility.
Short lead time: Factory prefabricated panels + on-site bolt assembly reduces installation time by 40%.
Flexible capacity: Customizable from 50 to 20,000 m³ per unit. Supports on-site expansion, disassembly and relocation, ideal for phased construction and capacity adjustment of beverage factories.
• Low overall cost with outstanding cost-effectiveness.
Economical cost: Total investment cuts by 20–25% versus concrete UASB, requiring no long-term corrosion protection.
Simple O&M: Smooth interior for easy cleaning and low sludge output. Modular structure enables rapid repair of damaged coating without full shutdown.
Energy efficient: Excellent thermal insulation reduces UASB heating consumption. High biogas recovery helps offset operating costs via power generation and waste heat reuse.
