The development history of glass-fused-to-steel (GFS) storage tanks is a history of innovation driven by materials science, manufacturing processes, and market demand.
The concept of fiberglass composite steel plate technology was not initially developed for storage tanks. Its principle stems from the ancient process of  "porcelain enameling", commonly used in cookware, bathtubs and building materials for rust prevention and aesthetics.

Around the time of World War II, people began to explore the application of this robust enamel coating in industrial settings to address the durability issues of steel containers in corrosive environments. 
Between the 1950s and 1970s, technological breakthroughs revealed unparalleled advantages of GFS materials: superior corrosion resistance, extremely high durability, hygiene, and ease of cleaning.
Leveraging these advantages, GFS storage tanks were first successfully applied in agriculture (such as gravel, coal, sand, grains and cereals etc.) and municipal wastewater treatment, gradually replacing traditional concrete tanks and easily corroded pure steel tanks.

Technological optimization and diversified development (early 21st century to present) have continued, materials and processes being constantly upgraded, such as the continuous improvements in glaze formulations (increased pH value, improved high-temperature corrosion resistance), higher-strength steel, and sealants & bolts with significantly enhanced performance and service life, which has enabled GFS storage tank to be used in various filed.

GFS materials are 100% recyclable, and their long lifespan and role in biogas and environmental engineering perfectly align with the global trends of circular economy and carbon neutrality.

The development history of GFS (Glass Reinforced Plastic) composite steel plate storage tanks is a journey from "traditional enamel technology" to "modern industrial materials", and then to "modular assembly concepts that sparked an industry revolution". Its core driving force has always been meeting market demands for storage facilities that are "durable, corrosion-resistant, hygienic, quick to install, and low-cost to maintain".
