Industrial Buffer Tank: Anti-corrosive Glass-lined Steel(GLS) Tanks
description
Buffer tanks are classified as pressure vessels; essentially, they serve as vessels for pressure stabilization and storage/buffering within fluid systems. They are commonly used as raw water buffer tanks, pre-membrane feed water buffer tanks, treated water buffer tanks, wastewater equalization buffer tanks, and intermediate buffer tanks for chemical dosing systems.
Application Scenario – Environmental Water Treatment Industry:
1.Anaerobic tanks and biogas systems: Biogas buffer tanks to smooth out fluctuations in biogas production and stabilize biogas combustion as well as the intake pressure for generator sets;
2.Sewage and chemical dosing pipelines: Dampening pump discharge pulsations to prevent damage to flow meters, membrane modules, and piping caused by pulsating impact;
3.Intermediate buffer tanks for GLS (Glass-Lined Steel) storage tanks: Balancing inlet and outlet flow rates and stabilizing the influent load to the reactor.
Material Characteristics of Glass-lined Steel Tanks
Glass-lined steel is a permanent, molecular bond created by fusing a specially formulated silica-based glass enamel to a base sheet of steel at very high temperatures (around 820°C / 1500°F) ,combines the advantages of both materials -- the strength and flexibility of steel and excellent anti-corrosion properties of glass.

Advantages of GLS Tanks for Industrial Buffer Tanks
The buffer tank adopts Glass Fused to Steel technology. Steel plates are coated with inorganic vitreous enamel and sintered at high temperature, forming an inert anti‑corrosion layer firmly bonded with steel substrate.
1.Excellent UV resistance for outdoor installation; no additional top coating required on external surface.
2.Smooth internal surface reduces sediment adhesion and biofilm growth, ideal for raw water / pre‑membrane buffer application.
3.Operating pH range: 3 ~ 11 (standard enamel).
4.Modular bolted construction, convenient for sea transportation and on‑site assembly.
5.Design service life ≥25 years under normal water treatment conditions.
6.The coating is highly chemically inert and resistant to corrosion caused by fluctuations in water quality or short‑term pH changes.
7.No risk of coating leaching or water contamination; suitable for use with drinking water, product water, and raw water pretreatment buffering.
