    Description
Ceramic membrane is an inorganic ultra-filtration membrane made of Al₂O₃, used for water treatment systems developed based on traditional tubular and flat-sheet ceramic membranes. It effectively solves the technical defects found in the use of traditional ultrafiltration membranes (organic membranes — PVDF, PES, PVC) such as fiber breakage, membrane fouling, and limited membrane lifespan.
⭐ Its advantages of easy cleaning, long service life, high strength, oil resistance, strong acid/alkali resistance, and high flux make it a better choice for drinking water, food, and chemical industries.

In water treatment plants, the core function of ultrafiltration membranes is physical sieving. Like an "extra-fine sieve," it efficiently removes suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances from the water with its extremely small pores, thereby significantly improving the safety and sensory quality of drinking water.
Along with the development of tap water requirements, traditional ultrafiltration membranes produced from organic materials such as PVC, PE, PVDF, etc. are increasingly incompatible due to the risk of micropollutant leakage after filter system aging. As a result, ceramic UF membranes are becoming more and more popular.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q What is a ceramic UF membrane and what is it made of?
A ceramic UF (ultrafiltration) membrane is an inorganic filtration membrane primarily made of aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃). It is used in water treatment systems as an advanced alternative to traditional organic membranes (such as PVDF, PES, and PVC), offering superior durability, chemical resistance, and filtration performance.
Q How does a ceramic UF membrane compare to an organic membrane in terms of service life?
Ceramic UF membranes have a service life of above 5 years, while organic membranes typically last only about 2 years. In addition, ceramic membranes offer higher flux (50–200 L/㎡·h vs. 15–50 L/㎡·h), better chemical stability, and are free from pollution risks associated with plastic materials.
Q What is the filtration precision of a ceramic ultrafiltration membrane?
Ceramic ultrafiltration membranes typically have a filtration precision between 0.01 and 0.02 micrometers (μm), which is equivalent to 10–20 nanometers. This pore size is smaller than most bacteria and viruses, enabling highly efficient and stable water purification.
Q What is the water treatment process used in a ceramic UF membrane water purification plant?
The typical process flow is: High-level drinking water source → Chemical dosing & flocculation → High-level sedimentation & filtration tower → Self-cleaning filter → Ceramic UF membrane module → Disinfection → Water storage tank → External pump → User. This multi-stage process ensures safe and clean drinking water output.
Q What are the main components of a ceramic UF membrane module?
A complete ceramic UF membrane module consists of: the ceramic UF membrane itself, a programmable valve, flow meter, pressure sensor, meter, PLC control cabinet, slow release device, releaser, and supporting auxiliary machinery. These components work together to ensure automated, efficient, and reliable filtration operation.
Q What production capacities are available for ceramic UF membrane modules?
The ceramic UF membrane modules are available in five standard configurations with production capacities ranging from 1,000 m³/d to 5,000 m³/d. Each model differs in overall dimensions, pipe connection sizes (DN80–DN300), membrane area, and number of membrane units (16 to 72 pcs), allowing flexible selection based on project scale and requirements.
