Glass Fused to Steel Tank: High Corrosion Resistance Storage Solution

The Glass fused to steel (GFS) tank is a kind of bolted storage tank made from two materials: glass and steel. High-strength TRS (titanium-rich steel) plates and enamels are perfectly fused at high temperatures to form a highly inert inorganic glaze layer. This coating system has excellent anti-corrosion properties and is the best choice for tank.

GFS bolted steel tanks adopt a modular design, with some parts capable of on-site assembly, adapting to the needs of large or special sites. Bolted tanks instead of concrete tanks which are easy to install in short construction period and save labor.

    description

Bolted steel tanks made of Glass-Fused-to-Steel are widely used for all kinds of storage solutions. Glass fused to steel is a permanent, molecular bond created by fusing a specially formulated silica-based glass enamel to a base sheet of steel at very high temperatures (around 820°C / 1500°F), combines the advantages of both materials -- the strength and flexibility of steel and excellent anti-corrosion properties of glass.

LIDA’s glass fused to steel (GFS) storage tanks are composed mainly of enamel panel, special sealant and self-locking bolts, etc . The steel plates are overlapped, bolted together and sealed with high performance seals. All the bolt heads are plastic-capped to provide protection against corrosion in the process environment. Mastic is extruded between the panels and the bolt heads seal the bolt shank to prevent contact with process fluids.

Uses of Glass Fused To Steel Tanks

Glass Fused To Steel Tanks are widely used in various industries and serve different purposes in different environments. These tanks are mainly used for
    • Municipal drinking water, sewage treatment, sludge storage, wastewater treatment and anaerobic digestion and biogas.
    • Industrial wastewater treatment, storage, anaerobic digestion and biogas, process water storage and bulk solids storage.
    • Agricultural slurry storage, on- and off-farm biogas production, storage of livestock feeds such as hay, maize and high-moisture grains, and bulk solids storage.
Renowned for their extended service life and minimal maintenance requirements owing to corrosion resistance and UV stability, glass-fused tanks cater to municipal, industrial, and agricultural needs.
Their superior corrosion resistance, durability and ease of maintenance make them ideal for storing and handling a wide range of liquids, chemicals and gases. Additionally, these glass fused bolted steel tanks can be used for rainwater harvesting, firefighting and storage of various industrial liquids.

Glass Fused To Steel Bolted Tanks Manufacturing Process

Glass-Fused-To-Steel Tank adopts high strength glass fused special steel as the base material, and uses the honing technology at high temperature of 800 degrees Celsius to fuse the anti-corrosion glaze layer with high inertia onto the surface of the base material to make standardized steel plate module. It combines both strength and flexibility of steel and excellent corrosion resistance of glass as well as the perfect impact and abrasion resistance, and that withstands the extreme temperature and harsh weather conditions.
