    Description
CSTR (Completely Stirred Tank Reactor) is most suitable for treating organic wastewater and organic solid waste slurries that have high suspended solids, high concentration, high viscosity, or contain a significant amount of solid particles. The wastewater for CSTR requires high concentration of COD (Typically ≥3000 mg/L, with a typical range of 5000–30000 mg/L) and SS.
CSTR tanks require stirring, are highly corrosive, require biogas resistance, and are easy to maintain; enamel tanks are a perfect match.
The enamel tank is a kind of bolted storage tank made from two materials: glass and steel. High-strength TRS (titanium-rich steel) plates and enamels are perfectly fused at high temperatures to form a highly inert inorganic glaze layer. This coating system has excellent anti-corrosion properties and is the best choice for tank.

    — Low Carbon, High Strength, High Titanium.

The steel substrate employed in the construction of glass-fused-to-steel tanks is a special high strength enamelled steel with a unique design and superior properties. Its mechanical properties, including yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation, far exceed those of conventional steel sheets.

The Advantage of Enamel Tank for CSTR Anaerobic Digester
    • 1
      Extremely Corrosion Resistant

Suitable for complex anaerobic water conditions.

    • 2
Suitable for CSTR Continuous Mechanical Mixing Conditions

CSTRs require full-tank mechanical agitation to prevent settling, crusting, and stratification. Enameled tanks offer excellent overall rigidity and high structural strength, resisting agitation vibrations and material erosion. Furthermore, the smooth inner wall of the tank prevents sludge and debris from adhering to the surface.

Tolerates Feeds with High Suspended Solids and High Solids Content

CSTR specializes in treating livestock and poultry manure, kitchen waste, sludge, and high-SS organic slurry. The enamel inner wall is wear-resistant, smooth, and non-stick, allowing high-solids materials to flow smoothly and preventing stagnation in corners.

Good Airtightness — Suitable for Biogas Collection in an Anaerobic Environment

CSTR anaerobic digesters require strict airtightness and gas collection to prevent leaks. Enameled tank assembly with sealing strips and flange seals ensures excellent overall airtightness.

    • 5
Easy to Keep Warm and Maintain a Constant Temperature

Anaerobic reactions require a constant temperature of 35℃ for mesophilic reactions and 55℃ for hyperthermic reactions. The outer wall of the enamel-lined tank can be directly fitted with an insulation layer and an outer protective panel, simplifying the construction process.

Quick to Install, Modular, and Can Be Disassembled and Expanded in Different Locations

Enameled tanks are assembled from standardized sheet materials, resulting in a short on-site installation period. They can be expanded, relocated, and disassembled for reuse at any time.

Does Not Grow Biofilm — Easy to Clean and Maintain

The glaze is dense and smooth, making it difficult for bacteria and sludge to adhere.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
    Q
What type of wastewater is CSTR most suitable for treating?
CSTR (Completely Stirred Tank Reactor) is most suitable for treating organic wastewater and organic solid waste slurries with high suspended solids, high concentration, high viscosity, or a significant amount of solid particles. It typically requires a COD concentration of ≥3000 mg/L, with a common range of 5000–30000 mg/L.
    Q
Why is an enamel (glass-fused-to-steel) tank the preferred choice for CSTR digesters?
Enamel tanks are ideal for CSTR applications because they offer extreme corrosion resistance, excellent airtightness for biogas collection, smooth non-stick inner walls, and high structural rigidity to withstand continuous mechanical agitation — all critical requirements for anaerobic digestion environments.
    Q
What is the expected service life of a glass-fused-to-steel enamel tank?
Glass-fused-to-steel enamel tanks are designed for durability, with a service life of more than 30 years under normal operating conditions. The high-strength TRS steel substrate and the fused inorganic glaze coating contribute to this long-term performance.
    Q
What pH range can enamel tanks withstand?
Standard grade enamel tanks can handle a pH range of 3 to 11, which covers most anaerobic digestion scenarios. For more aggressive chemical environments, a special grade coating is available that supports a full pH range of 1 to 14.
    Q
Can enamel tanks be expanded or relocated after installation?
Yes. Enamel tanks are assembled from standardized, modular sheet panels, which means they can be expanded in capacity, relocated to a new site, or fully disassembled and reused at any time. This flexibility significantly reduces long-term infrastructure costs.
    Q
What temperature conditions are required for CSTR anaerobic digestion?
CSTR anaerobic digestion typically requires a constant temperature of 35℃ for mesophilic reactions and 55℃ for thermophilic (hyperthermic) reactions. The outer wall of the enamel tank can be directly fitted with an insulation layer and protective panel to maintain stable operating temperatures efficiently.
