China Suppliers Factory for Bolted Steel Tanks in Wastewater/Sewage Treatment Solutions
Description
The Glass fused to steel (GFS) tank is a kind of bolted storage tank made from two materials: glass and steel. High-strength TRS (titanium-rich steel) plates and enamels are perfectly fused at high temperatures to form a highly inert inorganic glaze layer. This coating system has excellent anti-corrosion properties and is the best choice for wastewater treatment system.
Glass fused to steel is a permanent, molecular bond created by fusing a specially formulated silica-based glass enamel to a base sheet of steel at very high temperatures (around 820°C / 1500°F) ,combines the advantages of both materials -- the strength and flexibility of steel and excellent anti-corrosion properties of glass.
The storage tanks made of GFS plates meet the requirements of municipal sewage tanks. They offer excellent corrosion resistance, a smooth inner wall that is not prone to scaling, and the ability to adapt to fluctuations in water volume (high structural strength requirements).
Material Characteristics of Glass-Fused-to-Steel Tanks
- Low Carbon, High Strength, High Titanium
The steel substrate employed in the construction of glass-fused-to-steel tanks is a special high strength enamelled steel with a unique design and superior properties. Its mechanical properties, including yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation, far exceed those of conventional steel sheets.

Project
Project Scale
Municipal wastewater/sewage treatment: 10,000 m³/day
Project Schedule
Installation period: 35 days
Municipal wastewater is a complex mixture characterized by large volume, relatively consistent water quality, good biodegradability, but containing suspended solids, nitrogen and phosphorus, microorganisms, and potentially corrosive gases. GFS bolted tanks have become a classic choice for municipal wastewater storage tanks because their electroplated enamel surface can perfectly solve corrosion, vapor phase corrosion, and coefficient wear simultaneously, and is smooth and not prone to scaling.
Process Flow
The process flow is as follows: "coarse screen - collection tank - fine screen - equalization tank - (MBBR-AAO) - AO - secondary sedimentation tank - magnetic coagulation - ultraviolet disinfection".
The main equipment of the project uses enamel-lined modular tanks, with a production and installation period of 35 days. Manufactured and installed by Lida Technology, the modular enamel-lined steel plates are prefabricated in the factory, packed, and transported to the site. After safe and efficient installation, quality is controllable, and the standardization is high. Compared to concrete tanks, this significantly shortens the project time and improves the project's appearance. It also solves the problems of tight deadlines and urgent tasks in municipal emergency projects.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is a Glass-Fused-to-Steel (GFS) tank?
A GFS tank is a bolted storage system made by fusing high-strength titanium-rich steel (TRS) plates with silica-based glass enamel at high temperatures (around 820°C / 1500°F). This creates a durable, inert inorganic glaze that combines the strength of steel with the superior corrosion resistance of glass.
What makes GFS tanks ideal for municipal wastewater treatment?
Municipal wastewater contains corrosive gases, microorganisms, and suspended solids. GFS tanks offer excellent anti-corrosion properties, withstand vapor phase corrosion, provide smooth anti-scaling inner walls, and handle fluctuating water volumes with high structural strength.
What is the expected service life and chemical resistance of GFS tanks?
GFS tanks have a design service life of more than 30 years. They support a standard pH range of 3–11 and a special grade pH range of 1–14, with a coating hardness of 6.0 Mohs.
How fast can GFS modular tanks be installed compared to concrete tanks?
Because the modular enamel-lined steel plates are prefabricated in the factory and bolted on-site, installation is significantly faster. For instance, a 10,000 m³/day municipal project can be produced and installed in just 35 days, greatly reducing project duration compared to concrete construction.
Can GFS bolted tanks be relocated or expanded in the future?
Yes. One of the main advantages of modular bolted GFS tanks is their high flexibility for expansion, relocation, and recycling, making them adaptable to evolving municipal and industrial requirements.
