    Description
Ceramic membrane is inorganic ultra-filtration membrane made of Al₂O₃, which used for water treatment system developed based on traditional tubular and flat-sheet ceramic membrane. It effectively solves the technical defects found in the use of traditional ultrafiltration membranes (Organic membrane — PVDF, PES, PVC) such as fiber breakage, membrane fouling, and membrane lifespan etc. Its advantages of easy cleaning, long service life, high strength, oil resistance, strong acid/alkali resistance, and high flux make it a better choice for drinking water, food and chemical industry.

It boasts high packing density. A single membrane column can achieve a filtration area of 12.5 – 24.5 square meters, which gives the module strong processing capacity while saving installation space. Its standardized and modular design allows vertical or horizontal installation like reverse osmosis frames, and it can be compatible with traditional organic membrane ultrafiltration systems, simplifying system piping arrangement.

The Difference: Ceramic UF Membrane vs. Organic Membrane
    🏺 Ceramic Ultrafiltration Membranes:
This filter membrane, made from inorganic ceramic materials through high-temperature baking, features high wear resistance, high temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, long service life, and environmental friendliness.

It is particularly hygienic for use in the tap water, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

    🧪 Organic Ultrafiltration Membranes:
These are filtration membranes produced from organic materials such as PVC, PE, and PDFE using a chemical sol-gel process. They are susceptible to damage from strong acids and alkalis, prone to peeling and fiber breakage, and have a short lifespan.

They are used in tap water, food, and pharmaceutical industries where aging of treated water may result in the precipitation of microplastic particles, causing micro-pollutants.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q What material is ceramic ultrafiltration membrane made of?
Ceramic ultrafiltration membranes are made from inorganic ceramic materials, primarily Al₂O₃ (aluminum oxide), processed through high-temperature baking. The membrane module shell is available in UPVC, stainless steel, or FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic).
Q What is the key advantage of ceramic UF membrane over organic UF membrane (PVDF/PVC/PES)?
Ceramic membranes offer superior chemical resistance to strong acids and alkalis, much longer service life, no risk of fiber breakage or microplastic contamination, high-temperature tolerance, and easier cleaning compared to organic membranes such as PVDF, PVC, and PES.
Q What filtration area can a single ceramic membrane column achieve?
A single ceramic membrane column can achieve a filtration area of 12.5 to 24.5 square meters, providing strong processing capacity while significantly saving installation space.
Q Is ceramic UF membrane compatible with existing organic membrane ultrafiltration systems?
Yes. The standardized and modular design of ceramic UF membranes allows vertical or horizontal installation similar to reverse osmosis frames. They are compatible with traditional organic membrane ultrafiltration systems, simplifying system piping arrangements during upgrades or replacements.
Q In which industries is ceramic ultrafiltration membrane most commonly used?
Ceramic UF membranes are widely used in the food and beverage industry (milk, juice, beer, wine), biotechnology and pharmaceuticals (water for injection, vaccines), chemical and petrochemical industries (strong acid/alkali environments, high-temperature solvents), and environmental/water treatment sectors (oily wastewater, MBR systems, municipal water supply).
Q How do ceramic UF membranes handle cleaning and maintenance?
Ceramic UF membranes support CIP (Cleaning in Place) with strong acids, strong alkalis, and high-temperature steam without deterioration. Their high mechanical strength and chemical stability make them easy to clean, resistant to fouling, and capable of maintaining consistent performance over a much longer service life compared to organic membranes.
