    Description

Ceramic membrane is inorganic ultra-filtration membrane made of Al₂O₃, which used for water treatment system developed based on traditional tubular and flat-sheet ceramic membrane. It effectively solves the technical defects found in the use of traditional ultrafiltration membranes (Organic membrane — PVDF, PES, PVC) such as fiber breakage, membrane fouling, and membrane lifespan etc. Its advantages of easy cleaning, long service life, high strength, oil resistance, strong acid/alkali resistance, and high flux make it a better choice for drinking water, food and chemical industry.

In water treatment plants, the core function of ultrafiltration membranes is physical sieving. Like an "extra-fine sieve," it efficiently removes suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances from the water with its extremely small pores, thereby significantly improving the safety and sensory quality of drinking water.
Along with the development of the tap water requirement, the traditional ultrafiltration membranes which produced from organic material such as PVC, PE, PDFE, etc are hard to be compatible as the risk of leakage of micropollutants after filter system aging. To instead, ceramic UF membrane becomes more and more popular.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

❓ What is a ceramic UF membrane and what material is it made from?
A ceramic UF (ultrafiltration) membrane is an inorganic filtration membrane made primarily from Al₂O₃ (aluminum oxide). It is designed for water treatment systems and offers superior performance compared to traditional organic membranes made from materials such as PVDF, PES, or PVC.
❓ How long is the service life of a ceramic membrane compared to an organic membrane?
Ceramic membranes have a service life of above 5 years, whereas organic membranes typically last only about 2 years. This longer lifespan makes ceramic membranes a more cost-effective long-term investment for water treatment facilities.
❓ What is the filtration precision of ceramic ultrafiltration membranes?
Ceramic ultrafiltration membranes typically have a filtration precision between 0.01 and 0.02 micrometers (μm), which is equivalent to 10–20 nanometers. This pore size is smaller than most bacteria and viruses, ensuring highly efficient and reliable water purification.
❓ What are the main advantages of ceramic membranes over organic membranes?
Ceramic membranes offer numerous advantages including: higher recommended flux (50–200 L/㎡.h vs. 15–50 for organic), resistance to acid/alkali and organic solvents, resistance to microbial attack, compatibility with various chemical and compressed-air cleaning methods, high mechanical strength, and simple dry storage requirements — all of which make them a superior choice for demanding water treatment applications.
❓ What does a ceramic UF membrane module consist of?
A complete ceramic UF membrane module consists of the ceramic UF membrane itself, programmable valves, flow meters, pressure sensors, meters, a PLC control cabinet, a slow release device, a releaser, and supporting auxiliary machinery — forming a fully integrated and automated water treatment unit.
❓ What production capacities are available for the ceramic UF membrane modules?
The ceramic UF membrane modules are available in five standard configurations with production capacities ranging from 1,000 m³/d to 5,000 m³/d. Each module varies in overall dimensions, pipe connection sizes, membrane area, and the number of membrane elements, allowing flexible selection based on project scale and requirements.
