Bolted GFS Sludge Storage Tanks from China Suppliers and Factory for Corrosion Resistance and Durability

,

When it comes to sludge storage tanks, different applications necessitate distinct requirements. For sewage water treatment, it's essential to focus on corrosion prevention, heat preservation, and extending service life. In contrast, applications such as subway sludge and oil drilling prioritize wear resistance, explosion prevention, and quick relocation capabilities.

,

Our Glass-Fused-to-Steel (GFS) tanks are a preferred solution for municipal wastewater and sludge treatment. These tanks feature a unique enamel plate formed by fusing specially formulated silica-based glass enamel to a steel base sheet at extremely high temperatures (approximately 820°C / 1500°F). This innovative process combines the robust strength and flexibility of steel with the exceptional anti-corrosion properties of glass. As a leading China supplier and factory, we are committed to providing high-quality sludge storage solutions tailored to meet your specific needs.

    Description

The Glass fused to steel (GFS) tank is a kind of bolted storage tank made from two materials: glass and steel. High-strength TRS (titanium-rich steel) plates and enamels are perfectly fused at high temperatures to form a highly inert inorganic glaze layer. Based on the coating technology, it combines the advantages of both materials — the strength and flexibility of steel and excellent anti-corrosion properties of glass.

Sludge storage tanks' requirements are different from the different application. For sewage water treatment, the storage tanks pay more attention to corrosion prevention, heat preservation, and extending service life. For subway sludge, oil drilling and other fields, it places greater emphasis on wear resistance, explosion prevention, and rapid relocation.

    Why Choose Us

LIDA's glass fused to steel (GFS) bolted tanks are the classical choice for sludge/mud storage. They are composed mainly of enamel panel, special sealant and self-locking bolts, etc. The steel plates are overlapped, bolted together and sealed with high performance seals. All the bolt heads are plastic-capped to provide protection against corrosion in the process environment. Mastic is extruded between the panels and the bolt heads seal the bolt shank to prevent contact with process fluids.

Sludge often contains sand, salt, acidic and alkaline substances, and microbial metabolic products, which can easily cause wear and corrosion to the tank. Meanwhile, sludge may produce odors, leachate, and harmful gases during storage, and must meet environmental protection requirements. GFS tanks are an ideal choice to meet all the requirements.

The Design of Subway Sludge Storage Tank

Subway slurry (mainly shield slurry) is a fluid formed by mixing rock and soil with water, bentonite, foam and other additives during shield tunneling. The core characteristics are high sand content and high viscosity. LIDA employs a design where the storage tank is directly fixed to the ground via reinforcing stiffener. Once the sludge accumulates in the storage tank, it won't leak out from the cracks without foundation as its high viscosity.

    Frequently Asked Questions
Q What is a Glass Fused to Steel (GFS) tank?
A Glass Fused to Steel (GFS) tank is a bolted storage tank that combines high-strength TRS (titanium-rich steel) plates with enamel glass fused at high temperatures. This process forms a highly inert inorganic glaze layer, merging the strength and flexibility of steel with the excellent anti-corrosion properties of glass.
Q Why are GFS tanks suitable for sludge storage?
Sludge typically contains sand, salt, acidic and alkaline substances, and microbial metabolic products that can cause wear and corrosion. GFS tanks offer superior anti-corrosion protection, wear resistance, and airtight sealing to contain odors, leachate, and harmful gases — making them ideal for sludge storage in wastewater treatment and industrial applications.
Q How long is the service life of a GFS bolted tank?
GFS bolted tanks are engineered for long-term durability. With simple and routine maintenance, their service life exceeds 30 years, making them a cost-effective and reliable investment for industrial and municipal storage projects.
Q How quickly can a GFS sludge storage tank be installed?
One of the key advantages of GFS bolted tanks is their rapid installation. For example, three 500m³ GFS tanks for a subway slurry project in Beijing were fully installed within just 5 days, significantly reducing construction time and on-site labor requirements compared to traditional concrete or welded steel tanks.
Q Can GFS tanks be relocated or expanded after installation?
Yes. GFS bolted tanks are highly flexible in terms of relocation, expansion, and recycling. Their bolted panel construction allows them to be disassembled and reassembled at different sites, or expanded in capacity by adding additional panels — making them ideal for projects that require mobility or scalability.
Q What makes LIDA's GFS tanks different from standard storage tanks?
LIDA's GFS tanks feature enamel panels, high-performance sealants, and self-locking bolts with plastic-capped bolt heads to prevent corrosion. Mastic is extruded between panels to ensure a leak-proof seal. Their design meets strict environmental protection standards, and they are suitable for a wide range of applications including sewage treatment, subway slurry, and oil drilling operations.
